Zach Bush is a 4th-generation Black Hills local. Born in Hot Springs, with deep roots that anchor him firmly in the Black Hills way of life. As a devoted family man, he and his wife—who serves as a para-educator—are raising three boys here in the heart of the hills, passing down the strong Christian values that shape their home and guide Zach's every decision.

A retired Combat Veteran, Zach carries the discipline and leadership forged in 22 years of military service into civilian life. As an everyday tradesman, he helps build homes and futures with his own hands, while embracing the rugged outdoor spirit of western South Dakota. An avid outdoorsman and conservationist, he respects our natural resources deeply—whether through the Outfitter he works for his FFA days livestock or the countless hours spent in the hills he loves and protects.

Zach invests directly in the youth of Pennington County as a substitute teacher at Hill City High School, working side-by-side with educators (including his wife, a dedicated para-educator) to support and guide the next generation. He knows firsthand the importance of strong role models, hands-on learning, and community involvement in building resilient young people who will carry South Dakota forward.

He tackles county challenges with the same sharp focus from his military days and the practical, measure-twice-cut-once mindset of the job site: trimming excess from the tax rolls to ease the burden on families, streamlining rules that slow down new builds, and guiding responsible growth that honors our resources without hitting wallets harder.

Zach demands clear, transparent accounting for every public dollar—because in a place like ours, leaders should handle taxpayer money the way they'd handle their own hard-earned savings. Openness builds trust; anything less falls short.
